Summary

Integrated predictive and adaptive controller for heating, cooling, ventilation, blinds and artificial lighting. The control algorithms have been developed by the various partners of the project, including three aspects: heating and cooling, ventilation, lighting (artificial lighting and blinds). The control algorithms are integrated into a multi-functional control module implemented with the Matlab software. They include the adaptation to external conditions (weather data, building and technical equipment characteristics), and to user wishes (in a first draft version).

Algorithms used

Fuzzy logic, artificial neural networks, genetic algorithms

Work carried out

control algorithm development, simulation study, comparative measurements on two rooms of the LESO building (using a LonWorks network).

Results The experimental tests carried on at LESO have shown a global energy consumption reduction of around 20 % when compared to a conventional controller for the heating (and manual control for the blinds and artificial lighting), while providing a similar or better comfort level. The user’s satisfaction has been recorded using a questionnaire. Final report.
